Dear Select Hosting & NET1Plus Subscriber,
As you know Select Hosting took over all of NET1Plus’ Email Operations in late 2010. Since then Select Hosting has been upgrading all of the NET1Plus servers and systems. We are now completing the final preparations for upgrading the NET1Plus Email servers that provide your @NET1Plus.com email account services.
As part of the preparation we wanted to reach out to you early and let you know about the upcoming hardware and software upgrade so you are aware of some new features being offered as part of this upgrade.
The primary reason for the upgrade is to replace aging hardware so that ongoing performance and reliability can be ensured. We will also be upgrading the email software, IpSwitch, but because we are not changing the brand of software, the functionality will be the same except for some additional features and storage capabilities. We explain a little more about that below.
The upgrade will be taking place overnight on Monday December 26th beginning at 9:00PM and continuing until 6AM on Tuesday December 27th. During that time you will not have access to @net1plus.com email services of the NET1Plus webmail service.
Once the upgrade is complete you will be able to continuing using the service as usual. The upgrade will not require you to make any changes in the way you use the service, nor will you need to make any configuration changes. However, if you have a weak password on your email account you may be prompted to change it to a more secure password when you login to webmail.
ACTION YOU MAY NEED TO TAKE
If you receive your @net1plus.com service at no charge as part of your Comcast Internet Service or as part of our Friends & Family program you must take action before Friday December 23rd, 2011 to ensure that we migrate your email account to the new server. If your email account does not exist in our billing system your email service will be terminated on December 26th, 2011. The action you need to take, if any, is described below.
As mentioned above, the new version of the email software enables us to offer two different levels of service. The two levels of service are the one you have now which we will be calling Basic and the new level is called Enhanced. The Basic level is the same as the service that you have now and there is no price change. The Enhanced level offers two additional features for users that want more storage and/or a better mobile email experience. The details of both plans are listed below.
If you want to stick with the Basic level of service you do not need to do anything.
If you would like to move to the Enhanced service you need to upgrade to that service as instructed below. You can upgrade to the Enhanced service at anytime before or after the upgrade, but the enhanced features will not be activated until the upgrade is completed.
NET1Plus Email Account v2 Basic
Features:
2GB of Storage
Postini AntiSPAM and Virus Protection
WebMail and Online Calendaring
POP3/IMAP Protocol Support for Outlook and other email programs
Basic POP3/IMAP Mobile Device Connectivity
Cost: $5/Month or $48/year
NET1Plus Email Account v2 Enhanced
Features:
10GB of Storage
Postini AntiSPAM and Virus Protection
WebMail and Online Calendaring
POP3/IMAP Protocol Support for Outlook and other email programs
Microsoft ActiveSync for enhanced Mobility on iPhone and other
SmartPhone devices that support Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. This service will push mail to your phone rather than your phone having to check mail every few minutes -- which eats up battery. ActiveSync is also more efficient in keeping your webmail and email on your phone in sync.
Cost: $8/month or $79/year
Upgrading to the Enhanced Service
If you want the Enhanced version and you will need to login to the Select Hosting Portal, choose “My Services” select your email service and then click on the “Upgrade/Downgrade Package” link.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR NET1PLUS Internet Powered by Comcast Users (NetOne+)
Some of our customers currently receive their NET1Plus Email Service free of charge because they have NET1Plus Internet Service Powered by Comcast. Unfortunately our relationship with Comcast has come to an end and we will no longer be able to provide the @NET1Plus email accounts as part of that service. This means that you will have to now pay for your @net1plus.com email service. To ensure that you have no interruption in your @net1plus.com service, you must do one of the following before December 23rd, 2011: You must establish a billing account with Select Hosting and place an order for your @net1plus.com email, OR if you already have a Select Hosting billing account, you must login to it and order the @net1plus.com email service. If you do not place and order for the service your account will not be migrated and your email account will be deleted on December 26th, 2011 with no chance of recovery. You can order the @net1plus.com email service by clicking on this link Order Email Service
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY USERS
If you have an @net1plus.com email address that was provided to you under a Friends & Family arrangement you will need to contact the person that made that arrangement for you before Friday December 23rd. You know you have a friend's and family account if you know what each letter of the following acronym represents and you know which and how a specific letter in the acronym relates to the phonetic pronunciation of the acronym. The acronym is SCATE. ;)
